PRESENTATIONS
We have arranged a program of speakers
and presentations that we hope will interest everyone. They include:
"Safety in the Shop," Jim Hill, 4:00
pm Monday: Jim Hill, originator of the famous Source List for the Packard
community, has addressed several PAC National Meets in the past. He has been
involved in automotive work for many years. This seminar will address another
aspect of automotive maintenance and restoration.
"Flag: An American Biography" and "Desperate Engagement -
How the Monocacy Battle Saved Washington," Marc Leepson,
2:30 pm Wednesday: Marc Leepson is a journalist, historian and the author of
six books, two of which are cited in the presentation's title. He edited The
Webster's New World Dictionary of the Vietnam War (Macmillan, 1998), and wrote
two books on health topics in the 1980s. You can read more at

"The Packard Factory - Then and Now,"
Jim Balfour, 7:30 pm Wednesday: Jim Balfour has dedicated an enormous amount of
time in collecting photos of the Packard factory through the years, and then
returning to reshoot each of them under today's conditions. This presentation
expands on the contents of a recent PACKARD CORMORANT article, and is a must for
all Packard people. It's not pleasant but it's fascinating.
"Henney and Packard," Tom McPherson,
2:00 pm Friday: Tom McPherson is the world's acknowledged expert on
professional cars, having written many books on the subject; a general work,
"American Funeral Cars and Ambulances since 1900," is still regarded as the
standard reference work of the professional-car hobby. His book on the Henney
Motor Company, currently available from many sources, is the only book ever done
on this venerable manufacturer. He will trace the relationship of Henney and
Packard over the years.
"Ask Mr. Wizard," Ross Miller, 3:00
pm Friday: Ross Miller, owner of Speedwell Garage in Parkton, Maryland, has
been working on Studebakers and Packards for many years. He has developed
Speedwell into the "go-to" place for Packard folks in the Mid-Atlantic area, not
to mention owners in locations more distant. He knows things you haven't
thought of and will discuss technical topics of all stripes and descriptions.
You'll want to save time for our other specialized gatherings, too. These
include the general membership meeting and a judging school on Wednesday, and
roster keepers' and editors' meetings on Friday.
